Creative Critical Reflection

 1.  Our product utilizes conventions set by the car industry of advertising the speed and class of a vehicle. Commonly, when selling a sporty vehicle like a BMW, advertisers will feature media that highlights the speed that is attainable within it. Additionally, we add a level of class to the vehicle through the imagery of a suited figure exiting the car. This is a convention with car commercials as well. The main social group we represent are relatively wealthy people, as that is the main market for these cars. It represents these individuals as sophisticated, slick, and "speedy." This begins intertwined with the car.

2. Our product engages with audience by immersing them within the speed of the vehicle. It gives them a metaphorical taste into what the driving experience is like. This drives them to want more, wishes pushes them to engage with the product in the real world. This media text would be distributed on any media with ad space that is mainly used by young adults to middle aged people. This market is full of newly successful people, who would be in the market to experience BMW.

3. My production skills developed within this product mainly through my increased understanding of using the camera as a tool. My general concept of movement and angles became much more experienced. I saw what shots looked good, and which ones didn't. Additionally, I became aware of how the camera can be used to record audio alongside footage. We used this feature to extract specific portions of audio made by the car, and put them into shots they would work well with alongside. This added another level of quality, and sharpened my skills.

4. We integrated the hardware of phones, editing software, and of course, a car. The phones acted as our cameras and audio recording devices. This acted as an efficient and cheap way to capture footage we needed for the film. The editing software was the glue that held the raw footage together, and turned it into the commercial we produced. It made each shot special and made it flow in a sensible way. Finally, the car was the most important hardware we used. It was the main idea of our commercial, and without it, we wouldn't have a product. It guided how we did everything within our project.
