Critical Reflection

Image
How do your products represent social groups or issues?      My products represent social groups or issues in the main facet of representing the working class and those within lower economic standing. My main character is a tradesman, working as a mechanic both day and night. This mechanic, Logan, can barely make ends meet. He works constantly, having very little time for self-serving pleasurable exercises, and spends almost all time as a mechanic. This relative poverty is indicated in his home life, as we see him eating a breakfast of simply cheap snack food. He cannot afford food of actual substance, and instead only purchases cheap premade food. This is an early indication of his standing, representing the widespread issue of food deserts. These areas of poverty only give citizens access to less nutritious food (essentially gas station snacks) as their sole sustenance. I show this complex issue quite simply, as he scarfs down the Oreos in the beginning for breakfast. Another example

Filming Follies Production Blog

Image
Welcome to my final production blog. It feels surreal to write that. After so much time, my production journey is essentially finished. Our film is soon to be released. We have prepared our locations. We have prepared our props. Our scripts are clear within our minds. The costumes are fitted and ready. We are more excited then ever. It is finally time. Our cameras are now being finalized. The important decision we are going over is whether we should use an iPhone camera or separate more specialized camera. The iPhone has several specific advantage. It is lower in cost. It is more user friendly. And more members of the crew can have cameras. The more specialized camera option has its own advantages as well. It can  be sharper. It has more settings. It can be higher quality overall. So, an important decision exists that we will decide.

Finalization Production Blog

Welcome to my eight-production blog. Our film is entering its later stages. Production is essentially wrapping. Our final step is the filming process which is soon to come. We have all locations ready. The props have been customized to a tea. The race car has stickers showing its racing side. We have worn the wrenches down to a realistic level. Additionally, we have chosen Logan's food, raw chicken and mashed potatoes. Pre-production on props is finished. Concerning our locations, today we have looked them over again and reviewed addresses. I have planned our trip to the race track, fully prepared to get close to the road. This will be a very exciting trip. I've never been to a race track before, so it will be completely new. It is all very exciting. I can't wait. The thrill of the locations is too much to bear. Logan's house is always fun to be in, so shooting there will be a breeze. Finally, the shop has been cleaned. We are full steam ahead.

Cast Morale Production Blog

Image
Welcome to my eighth production blog. Production on a work level is going very smoothly. We have locations. We have props. We have several, good-looking costumes. And, we have knowledge of the script. These are all very important goals that we have hit. However, production isn't about simply getting the work done. We need to be happy with the product. We need to be invested in its success. So, I made sure to highlight that my group keeps good morale. During script practice, I served tea to keep everyone's vocal cords working. During location scouting, I brought snacks. During prop searching, I made sure we took breaks. Overall, I made sure we were having a good time. Because none of this is worth it if we aren't. Creative acts should be enjoyable. Putting art into the world should never be just work. It is a fun, transformative experience. And I intend to keep it that way.

Prop Party Production Blog

Image
Welcome to my seventh production blog. The rehearsal went well. We practiced lines in the shop. Additionally, we ran through them in Logan's house. Finally, we ran through them in his car. This would mimic the racing scene. So, overall the script is looking pretty good. However, we may have to rehearse it again soon. Just to make sure. So, our goal today is to finalize the props we will be using for the film. Most importantly, Logan's car. This "prop" is integral to the film as it is the heart of the plot. We must retrofit it with racing stickers to make it feel immersed in the world. Next, we need to finalize the food Logan will eat in the sad home scene. This is integral as Logan will be depressed in this scene, and we want to have him eat food that goes along with this general mood. We were workshopping things like mashed potatoes. Or cold green peas. Just overall, food evokes sadness in the scene. We want our props to signify things important to the plot occurrin

Going Through Lines Production Blog

Image
Welcome to my sixth production blog. I am very excited about everything upcoming. We are moving along very well in every department. Logan is working well. Ryan is working well. And I am working pretty well. With almost everything lined up, it seems filming will be approaching shortly. The main next step we have to conquer is getting our lines down. We have a script semi-finalized. But it still needs work. So, we will run through it in person. By reading it together immersed in the scene, we can see how it would feel on film. We will do these rehearsals on location if we are lucky, making us feel truly into the production. Logan has the most lines by far. Followed by me with a distinct second. Finally, Ryan has about the least amount of lines possible. But, no matter what dialogue we have, we will all contribute. This story will be told well. The writing will be airtight, and this rehearsal will cause that. Exciting times are coming.
