Genre Research Blog: Action

 

  1. A. All camera shots are fast paced and there tends to be a lot of close-up shots to show the expression of the character. Establishing shots are also important as they show where the action is taking place. Tracking shots also common for chase scenes which makes them feel involved. 

  1. B. In action the use of sound is very important, and the use of amplified diegetic sound make it more exciting. 

  1. C. Action films tend to be in built suburban areas to allow for a better experience of rushing past buildings then going through the country. The use of an area that can give a sense of speed is the most common. Lighting is usually illuminating characters faces. Props are always used for weapons and tech devices. 

  1. D. The most common editing used in the action genre are cuts and jump cuts. They are used to keep the constant action going and add emphasis to the actions. 

  1. E. Some action films that are what something we want in our film include Grand Turismo, Need for Speed, and The Talladega Night. These action films are all racing films that focus on the upcoming of a character rather than a bad vs good scenario. 

  1. F. The best part of action that relates to our film is the high paced exciting feeling it provides throughout the whole film. This is exactly what we want when our character is racing on screen. 

  1. G. The theme of action is not what we are looking for when creating our film. It focuses a lot on bad vs good and lots of fighting and crazy scenarios which is not what our film is about. We want more of an underdog story.
