Assigning Roles Production Blog

Image
Welcome to my fifth production blog. We are continuing to plan and block out ideas for our upcoming short film. All in all, the film is slowly but surely coming together. We have the cast. But, we each are not assigned a role as of yet. That needs to be done. Logan will be cast as the main character, which designates him many roles in the film. He will first be a mechanic. Additionally, he will be at home, a sad worker. Finally, he will be a racecar driver, realizing his full potential. I will be a side character. A fellow mechanic in our conjoined shop. I will be initially unsupportive of his ambitions and repeatedly claim that they are unrealistic. I will be the beginning antagonist. The main thing he is first against. Slowly, I will warm up to him. But this will take very long. Ryan will be supportive from the beginning. He really pushes Logan to be the best. This motivation is very needed for him in the plot.

Car Searching Chronicles Production Blog

Image
Hello. Welcome to my fourth production blog for our short film. The main prop in our movie is Logan's car. It is the penultimate plot device. It moves the plot into its final and most consequential act. But in this stage of production, we don't have a concrete car. Logan unfortunately got into a car crash a few months back. This news was crushing. Foremost, because of Logan being in danger. Secondly, because the car was now completely useless for filming, The side of the car was fully scratched. The right mirror was all gone. So, the thing we were relying on was now stripped away from us. This put us into a tough spot. Now instead of moving on to filming, we are on the search. Eventually, we will find it. I still have the hope stated in a previous blog. We are getting closer. Our sets are figured out. Next, we must figure out our respective roles in the film.

Location Looking Production Blog

Image
Hello and welcome to my third production blog. I am delighted to announce that we have extremely easy access to three useful locations. To begin with, there is the mechanics' shop. Logan Dewar already works within an auto shop, which thereby makes this location very simple to access. We simply have to request a day when no actual work is being done, and film there. My and his manager are already on good terms. And, his worker (Logan) obviously is too. This space has many of the props we need within it as well, making it very convenient overall. Secondly, Logan's house is up for the taking. In a few weeks, his parents will be out of town. This removes any possibility of parental interference from taking place. So, the space is basically ours. We will use his bedroom, the kitchen, and the living room mostly. Finally, we will use the race track. Logan actually races here often. We have captured previous footage at this location also. It will prove very useful when we start our ac

New Ride Production Blog

Image
Welcome to my production blog. A racing films needs, a car. And we are searching for one. Logan had a fully usable race car. But something terrible happened. He was racing it, like usual, but he got in a crash. He took a turn too quickly, and hit the side of the car against the tire stacks. This sliced part of the car off. This makes it unusable for our filming purposes. Unless of course, a crash occurs in our script. Overall, this is unfortunate. It can make our filming much more difficult. So, we now are on the search. A race car must be found, and pretty quick. We of course have a budget. This makes our search even harder. We search on Facebook marketplace. We search om ebay. Every online retailer available. The search continues and continues. We hold out hope and push forward.

Costume Production Blog

Image
Welcome to my production blog. We need costumes for our film. We are going to get costumes. The mechanic costume will consist of a boiler room suit. Then, eventually they will acquire a race car drivers jacket. They will also gain a racing suit. The two friends will wear basic dirty clothes at work. We put grease and dirt on them. This is indicating that they have been at work consistently. To do this we put oil and grease on white shirts to make it obvious. To get the shirts and pants for the workers, we went thrifting. We went to Goodwill and American thrift. At Goodwill we found nothing, but American thrift was much more successful. For the racing jacket, we had an inside source. Logan's father has a lot of racing memorabilia. So, we went to him and got a racing jacket. For the boiler suit for Logan, we placed an order on amazon. It is shipping currently. When it comes, our film will truly come together. These costumes make it feel immersive. It will make the journey truly beli
